Maple French Toast Bake

One of the best parts about this indulgent French Toast bake is that it can easily be made ahead of time.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch slices
Egg mixture:
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups half-and-half cream
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1 tbs sugar
  • 1 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
Topping:
  • 6 slices Fischer's Bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • Maple syrup

Directions

  1. Grease a 9×13-in. baking dish. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the 10 egg-mixture ingredients. Dip each slice of bread into egg mixture. Arrange slices in baking dish. Pour any remaining egg mixture over top. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  3. Remove from refrigerator a 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a small bowl, combine the first 8 topping ingredients and then spread evenly on top.
  4. Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with syrup.
